Definitions of Specialized Equipment

HMI - A mercury, metal-halide, iodide lamp with a multiline spectrum. This type of light is highly efficient and produces 5500 degree Kelvin daylight.

KinoFlow - High output full spectrum fluorescent that can produce either daylight or tungsten light. These units are available in 2' and 4' models. These tubes can be run outside the fixture.

Mini Flow - High output full spectrum fluorescent that can produce either daylight or tungsten light. These units are 8" long and can be powered by AC or DC. Their size makes them a natural for car interiors.

Micro Flow - High output full spectrum fluorescent that can produce either daylight or tungsten light. These units are very small and used in product shots.

Source 4 - Highly directional spotlight, capable of being internally baffled, this unit is also capable of projecting precut or custom patterns.

Chimera - This is a lightweight, portable accessory that fits many different lighting fixtures. Its use produces soft light that is easy to control.

Stick up - Is a small incandescent luminaire that weighs only 4 ounces. Its wire frame design allows it to be mounted almost anywhere. This unit produces tungsten light and can be run off 12V DC or 110V AC.

MDG Fogger - This type of cracked oil fog machine does not burn a liquid to produce the smoke, it boils it to a vapor. The result is a pure white fog/smoke, that is nontoxic and dry. The MDG produces airborne particles that maximize lighting effects with none of the side effects normally associated with fog machines.

Rosco Fogger - Water/glycol based fog machine that may cause irritation with prolonged use.

Crystal Controlled Generator - Is a remote source of power that is usually sound attenuated. Crystal controlled means the unit will run exactly at 60 hertz. This is essential when working with magnetic ballast HMI's. Without frequency control a flicker will result.

Jib - A remote means to move or fly the camera.

Dolly - Camera support system that comes in many different styles and shapes.
