Location Scout Information

Information is the key to any successful shoot, the following questions represent the type of information the camera and lighting department is looking for.

What is the total power requirements for the work you intend to accomplish?

Is a generator required, or can the work be done with a tie in?

Does the location demand specialized equipment like, HMI's, KinoFlow's etc.?

Will interior shots include windows, if so what direction do they face?

What is the ceiling height of the location?

What color are the interior walls of the location?

Old neighborhoods have low hanging trees, is there clearance for the grip truck and generator?

Is there ample parking for the grip truck and generator?

If exteriors are planned approximately what time will they be shot?

Will the roads and bridges used to access remote locations carry the weight of a grip truck and generator?

Will any power cables have to cross a working street, walkway or body of water?

Does the location require any special rigging like cantilevers, grids, or scaffolding?

Will a condor or any sort of lift be required to raise the lights to working height?

Is there a rain contingency for the exterior locations?

Are there any special gel requirements like large amounts of ND, trace, or specific party colors required?

Is there a staging area for the equipment protected from the rain?

If fog is to be used, are there smoke alarms in the location?

If fog is to be used are there asthmatics that will come in contact with it?
